Watchman's Soap Box

"Who Watches The Watchmen?" “The Government are very keen on amassing statistics. They collect them, add them, raise them to the nth power, take the cube root and prepare wonderful diagrams.” “But you must never forget that every one of these figures comes in the first instance from the village watchman, who just puts down what he damn pleases.”

What do you think?

This idea sounds just crazy enough to possibly work, so naturally it won't be given serious consideration. How great is our bureaucracy!!

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being proposed
By one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion

We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

Kindest personal regards,

Birk

T. J. Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it's either good for a laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!! Of course remember the ass holes in Washington D C could not hold down a real job or run a business, they are more interested causing wars, taxing the hell out of us and seeing how quick they can destroy the United States of America. It is up to the U.S. citizen to stop this.

Remember this is your money that they want to give away.

Small fury things

You know that last post go me to thinking. My whole life my family has had a pet of one kind or the other. Be it a dog or cat, a frog or a lizard or some God forsaken fish. We always had them. I know my dad did not go out looking to have one. Heck in my adult life I never did. They just showed up, and we took them in as a part of the family. So it got me thinking (pick your butt up off the ground). Do we choose our so called pets, or do they choose us. I mean if a dog does not like you he/she will bite you. If a cat does not like you he/she will claw you. If a fish does not like you he/she will, what? Point I was going to make was “Our pets pick us not the other way round”. Think about it. They stay for a reason. Most times to help us, they could run the streets and party like 1999. Do they? No because they pick us (you and me) to be part of their world. It’s a small world that requires not much from us, just some love and food and water. But the joy they bring is unsurpassed. And now “Sir Bob: wants a butt scratch, so I have to go. Like I said who owns who? Later

OK plans. I have them, yes sir and by God I do. But I always hear “Michael come here”. What up with that? My name is Joe. So I was thunkinding, what if I could come up with a smart idea to solve the gas problem. As an American I have some responsibility for this, right? So me and “Sir Psycho Duffis Bob” went out on a walk about. Yes Bob does mind some times. Anyways we, was a walking and Bob found, how do I say this nice? Puppy left over stuff. He looked at me and said this stinks. I looked at him and said its puppy shit. He was like I do not like it get ride of it. My mind went in to over drive, dude there is money in puppy shit. So here is my plan:

Collect all puppy shit.

Send it to Washington DC address it to who you want.

Send me A dollar two ninety eight.

Sit back and wait.

Watch the money come in.

Not much of a plan but you got a better one?

What the??????

Ever have one of them there total brain fades?

It’s been a long time since I had one but today. BANG. One of the nice things about working Saturday is it is quiet. Not today, nope. Had an emergency in Buffalo, so what do I do? I went and sent it out to Detroit. What the PLOP? Was it a senior moment? A kicking in of the drugs? The water? The coffee? Wait I did not have any. Make’s me start to question myself. I knew what was going on, just for some reason Detroit stuck in my head. I have no idea why. Scary. So I did what any good employee would do. Wrote myself up and sent the form to my boss. Lesser things get people fired. I think it best to own up to it and let the shit hit the fan. But that’s not what I was going to go on about tonight. It was going to be about? See what I mean my mind is going to mush. Oh now I know it was the “Green Things” yep that was it. Have you ever really noticed they do not come out during the day? True my friends they like the night. They say they blend in better. I say the grass is green what, is the problem dude. Anyway I was going to work this morning at “O” dark “what ever” and crossing the bridge there, I mean there, in the middle of the road was……….

A green Lazy Boy?

OK I drive a SUV that the dash gauges do not work so I guess I could be going something like 85 in a 60 zone. (I am not the brightest light in the package) But I missed it. I passed one of them there ECO cars miles back. Got in to work and on the news was? You got it ECO car totaled by a Lazy Boy. So I say SUV no coffee is better than an ECO car.

That’s just me

Let it rain

Okay I was sitting on the group “W” bench, playing with the crayons. Then it hit me. Yes I was floored. Don't lose my number no it was more like, peanut butter on toast. Yep that simple. I can feel it coming in the Ed of night. I saw what you did. I remember don’t worry, it’s the first time. Silence, hurt coming, hold on. Hushpuppy free, just for today. The lion sleeps tonight. Red apples are good. One headlight in the middle. Green grass and high tides. County line ahead. In the middle, in the middle. Slide guitars rule. I have not changed. Two pennies please. Green grass and high tides for ever. What was that Earl? Toe jam. Run with the gators.

In a place you only dream of
Where your soul is always free
Silver stages, golden curtains
Filled my head, plain as can be
As a rainbow grew round the sun
All the stars I've love who died
Came from somewhere beyond the scene you see
These lovely people played just for me

Now if I let you see this place
Where stories all ring true
Will you let me past your face
To see what's really you
It's not for me to ask these questions
As though I were a king
For you have to love, believe and feel
Before the burst of tamborines take you there

Green grass and high tides forever
Castles of stone souls and glory
Lost faces say we adore you
As kings and queens bow and play for you

Those who don't believe me
Find your souls and set them free
Those who do, believe and love
As time will be your key
Time and time again I've thanked them
For the peace of mind
They helped me find myself
Amongst the music and the rhyme
That enchants you there

Green grass and high tides forever
Castles of stone souls and glory
Lost faces say we adore you
As kings and queens bow and play for you

Yeah, they play just for you?????????????????????????????????
